O’Hare Terminal Layout
O’Hare is the fourth busiest airport in the world. This airport has four passenger terminals, namely terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5, while Terminal 4 is currently used as the airport bus shuttle terminus. Of these, Terminal 5 is the international terminal, while the rest are dedicated to domestic flights. Also, these terminals are located in a semi-circle complex, from where passengers can easily access the ground transportation center from the curb front.
Chicago O’Hare International Airport, simply known as O’Hare, is located about 14 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop in Chicago, Illinois.
Terminal 1: This terminal has two concourses- B and C. Between these two concourses, there are about 55 total gates situated on this terminal. The upper level of Concourse B houses the roadway and O’Hare departures. It is directly connected to the Airport Transit System. The lower level has the ground transportation system, car rental service, charter buses, and bus shuttle center.
Terminal 2: Concourses E and F are located on this terminal. The upper level of the terminal is connected to terminal 3 and terminal 1 and with the Rotunda. It is also directly connected to the ATS system. The ground transportation system from terminal 2 includes rental car services, charter buses, suburban and reserved taxis, and reserved limousines.
Terminal 3: This terminal is home to the concourses G, H, K, and L. It has three main levels – the upper level consists of the O’Hare departures, the main hall, transit system and roadway, while the lower level is home to arrivals, baggage claim, ground transportation and so on.
Terminal 5: This is the newest and only international airport at O’Hare. It has the baggage level and the ticketing level, from where the O’Hare departures take place.
Ailines at each terminal
Terminal 1: Aer Lingus, Aeromexico, Air Canada, Air China, Air France, and Air Italy operate from this terminal.
Terminal 2: Air India, Air New Zealand, Alaska Air, All Nippon Airways and Alitalia
Terminal 3: Airlines in Terminal include the following- Air Italy, Air France, Aeromexico, Air New Zealand, Air India and so on.
Terminal 5: Azul Airways, Cape Air, Korean Air, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, China Airlines, Copa Airlines, Delta Airlines.
Getting around the airport
To cover the distance between the different terminals, passengers can avail the Airport Transit System (ATS), which is a train connecting the terminals. The domestic terminals 1, 3, and 5 are also connected by a shuttle bus and the Pedestrian Tunnel Level. For example, the Pedestrian Tunnel Level at terminal 2 connects it to terminals 1 and 3.
Airline Lounges

Terminal 3: Terminal 3 also has the following airport lounges- the American Airlines Admirals Club, American Airlines Executive Center, and the American Flagship Lounge.
Terminal 5: Being an international terminal, it has many airline lounges for the passengers’ convenience. These include Air France/KLM Lounge, Swissport Lounge, Korean Air Lounge, British Airways First Lounge, British Airways Terraces Lounge and the SAS Lounge.
Taxi’s at O’Hare
As mentioned above, each terminal in the O’Hare airport has a ground transportation service with a rental cab and taxi service booth. The taxis are located at the lower level of each terminal, right outside the baggage claim area for the convenience of passengers. The taxis run through Chicago and nearby suburban areas. Passengers are advised to pick a licensed taxi instead of accepting taxi rides outside the O’Hare departures section.
Cabs are situated on the lower level of every terminal at O’Hare airport outside the Baggage Claim Area. Taxi’s run through Chicago and the suburban regions. It is prescribed to get the licensed taxi and not to accept taxi rides outside the taxi rank or from the Departures level.
Parking
Passengers can park their vehicle at O’Hare for an extended period of time. The airport has sections known as Economy Lots, where the passengers can park their car and avail the shuttle bus service that will transport them to Lot E. From here, passengers can take the ATS that will take them to the terminal of their choice.
The economy lots are named as follows: Lot E, Lot F, Lot G and Lot H. Of these, Lot G is said to have the most economic rent system, with the daily rates ranging between $10 and $17. This is actually a very convenient system for passengers waiting for O’Hare departures- they no longer need to worry about the safety of their vehicle.
O’Hare Terminal 5 Parking: Care about Your Car!
The principle garage at O’Hare International Airport is adjacent to domestic terminals with hourly parking situated on Level 1. Hourly parking is mainly for short-term parking (not more than three hours). Everyday parking is accessible on Levels 2-6 of the fundamental garage and in the outdoor Lots B and C. We don’t prescribe utilizing the primary garage for extended overnight stays, as the daily rates are higher than the Economy Lots. The nearest hotel to the airport is the Hilton Chicago O’Hare Airport, which is located across Terminal 2 of the grounds. It is actually at a walking distance from the airport and offers a full-service health and fitness club.
Public Transport
For those who are unwilling to take a taxi or their car to the airport, there are certain public transportation options that ply passengers to O’Hare regularly. One of them is the CTA Blue Line that offers both trains and buses to transport passengers from all over the city to the airport.
Metra also offers trains to enable passengers to reach their O’Hare departures on time. For passengers leaving the airport, Pace Route 250 provides daily service from the remote Lot E to the Des Plaines Metra station, as well as to downtown Evanston through Dempster Avenue.
Facilities at the airport
Near the ticketing level of Terminal 2 is located the Urgent Care Clinic. The purpose of this station is to provide urgent medical relief to passengers. Apart from these, passengers in Terminals 1, 2 and 3 can make use of the flu shots and visitation services.
All the terminals at O’Hare have more than one changing station and restroom. Passengers can also find unisex family restrooms on each terminal for their convenience.
VIP passengers and members of the different frequent flyer clubs can avail the services of their respective airline clubs at the Airline Lounges Service section. This is a good place to spend a quiet moment before taking off for the O’Hare departures

The Hilton Hotel and the United and Admirals Clubs have a number of business and meeting rooms that passengers can use to discuss important business matters.

O’Hare departures.
The United Service Organization offers a plethora of services to military men and women as well as their loved ones. They can enjoy free beverages, information, internet access, relaxing spaces, TV, books and magazines, medical assistance and so on.
For passengers waiting for their departure, there is the Public Art Program that has a varied collection of paintings, sculptures and art pieces waiting to be admired. Also, the iconic aeroponic gardening is a sight to behold at O’Hare.
